b1 Group is a fully equipped web services agency with expertise across a broad range of disciplines. Our clients find that when they work with b1, all of their online marketing and design needs are handled consistently. We thrive on high standards and our work is always impactful and on brand.
b1 have recently designed and built two new websites for Nimrod Publishing – Worcestershire and Warwickshire Living. They are both fantastic sites packed with local stories, news and events. The main aim of the websites was to strengthen the Living Magazine’s brand, while also encouraging visitors to use, interact and keep returning to the websites for more up-to-date news and events in the local area.
As more and more people are getting smart phones, the number of websites that are being visited on mobile devices is growing at a fast pace.
Although these mobile devices are often very good at displaying (rendering for the techies out there!) your website on the screen, a lot of sites are made using fixed width or grid methods. This means they do not scale to fit the mobile device and thus the user is required to “zoom” into the page to be able to read any text content, and can have trouble finding what they are looking for.
Search Engine Optimisation is a big business and there are many companies dedicated to getting you to number one on search engines, but it can also be very costly! If your budget doesn’t stretch to this service, there are some basics that your website or design agency should be doing to ensure your website is SEO ready and will at least be picked up by search engines. Here are some quick, simple and fundamental elements that will help to optimise your site:
As a leading web services player, we often talk to clients who have been disappointed with the performance of their SEO agency. The most common complaint being a lack of website enquiries, despite Google ranking improvements.
This is, sadly not surprising, based upon our experience of many SEO companies local to us. It is however worth pointing out that when an integrated SEO campaign is professionally implemented, the results can be impressive, and there are plenty of expert, professional SEO companies who can help.
E-shotting your customers is not new technology, however it seems to be something that is often missed or not even considered in marketing plans. Why? Because we all get annoying spam emails through and you don’t want to tarnish your company and brand with the same annoying brush. That’s understandable, however if you are using your own company database of prospects and customers, you won’t be spamming. Believe it or not, your customers may like some regular correspondence from you, the worse case scenario would be no reaction from your contact, however you’ll be in their mind should they decide to buy at a later date.
At b1 we share several accounts with other creative agencies, and we never forget that it’s a team game.
The fact is, many clients recognise the benefits of employing multiple agencies to assist to the promotion of their brand. They may choose to employ a specialist web or PR agency to work alongside their brand consultants for added specialist skills.
With the New Year comes optimism and the perfect opportunity to plan for the future growth of our businesses.
I cannot stress enough the importance of planning. A business without a plan really is like a ship without a rudder and it will never achieve its real value.
As business leaders we owe it to our staff and to ourselves to develop a real and meaningful game plan. How else can we assess and evaluate where we are, how we are doing and what needs to change? The game plan is our whole reason for being in business!
Facebook have some very nice and clear styling for both their website and their widgets… which are great for Facebook, however your website might not have blue links? Your website might not have large blue banners across the headings. Some custom editing is needed, after all, you should keep your brand consistent and not change it for an external plugin!
Cross-Browser checking, is a process most website developers go through.
It is the process of ensuring a website works correctly, or as best as possible on a number of different browsers.
This is to ensure customers visiting the site, can experience your website, and not run into issues and leave it for a competitors website which works for them.
Search engine optimisation (SEO) is a very important marketing tool that helps to bring business to your company via your website.
It is the act of preparing your site for search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo to be able to identify and categorise the content of your website, so that users are able to find your content a lot easier, as well as bringing in new users looking for a service you provide.
Searching for web and graphic design Bromsgrove, returns b1 group as the top result. This brings in new customers who have not yet chosen a design group, to easily stumble across b1 Group, and then its for our website to sell what we are capable of.
I was one of many students who graduated from University this week after completing my four year degree – hurrah! That’s my student days over and I was back to work as an Account Manager here at b1 the following day, a job I started just a month after finishing my course in May. Many of my fellow graduates however, aren’t so lucky. The media are constantly saying how students struggle to find employment after finishing University, and believe me – they’re not lying! It is really tough but there ARE things you can do to get on the career ladder, despite the recent recession. I want to briefly tell you my story…
Google launched its business pages recently, enabling companies to create a page on the newest social network, to advertise and promote their company.
Google pages are a direct competition to Facebook pages, which have for a long time enabled companies to interact and advertise to a mass of fans, most of which use Facebook.
These page services enable you to interact and give announcements to your customers and potential customers.
Take Pepsi. Their Facebook page currently has over 6 million people “Like this”, this enables Pepsi to directly get messages to users who they know “Like” their product, and not just people who randomly stumbled across there announcement or advert.
When sat at home one evening I was subjected to the new 1&1 advert: 1&1 offer a generic, templated website system, so all of you unique British companies end up looking the same. They are clearly trying to cut designers out of the web development process and as a designer myself, I went off to bed in a huff.
The current BBC website is already a fantastic site, with great interaction allowing users to move panels around so they can create their own BBC interface. The new beta version of the BBC website loses the interaction but it is so stylish, clean and crisp that I don’t care!
In the last couple of years you’ll have no doubt seen an increase in these funny square dots, well, they’re QR codes.
Quick Response (QR) codes are providing businesses with an alternative way to pass on information, making marketing incredibly interactive. They are just like a barcode on any product, however they are square and can contain a whole host of information in a small space.
